Accepted And Approved

Ephesians 1:3: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

2 Timothy 2:15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Accepted is what God does for us while approved is because of what we do for Him with Him help. The first passage speaks of the work of God in saving a man. The second passage teaches about the work God intends for a saved man, how he can be a workman approved unto God. It will begin for him by studying the Bible and it will be completed as he departs from evil.

1 Corinthians 3:9: For we are labourers together with God: ye are God*s husbandry, ye are God*s building.

The same grace of God that brings us salvation teaches us how we ought to change the way we live. God saves us because He wants to take us to heaven but He also saves us because He wants us to live better lives as we are on our way to Heaven.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

So, am I walking in the good works that He has created me to walk in? Am I just accepted in the beloved or am I accepted in the beloved AND approved unto God? I want to be both. How about you?
